What you get

We handle both cement retained and screw retained work. Tell us the system and platform and we will work to it. Where a case needs a component or a step we do not hold in house, we arrange it rather than asking you to change your plan.

The two ways the crown can be held on

Screw retained

One piece, no cement

• Retrievable. Undo the screw and the crown comes off, which matters if the case needs servicing years later.
• No cement left behind. Nothing can be trapped under the tissue.
• Needs the implant angled so the channel comes out somewhere you can live with.
• The channel is sealed after tightening, so the patient never sees it.

Cement retained

Abutment, then crown over it

• Forgiving on angulation. The abutment corrects the path, so an implant that is off axis is still restorable.
• Better aesthetics where a channel would come out through the labial face.
• Every trace of cement has to come out. Retained cement is a common cause of peri-implant trouble.
• Keep the margin shallow so you can actually reach it.

What we need from you

• System and platform. The implant brand, diameter and platform, in writing. Guessing from a radiograph costs everyone a week.
• Abutment. Tell us who is supplying it, you or us.
• Impression. Coping seated fully and verified, or a scan body if you are sending a digital file.
• Records. Opposing arch, a bite record, and a note on the emergence profile you want.
• Soft tissue. A photograph of the emergence at the time of impression helps more than anything else you can send.
